Review: Venus Leaf Green

So I have branched out and tried a new(and more expensive :/) brand of color lenses: Venus lenses. I purchased them from http://color-my-eyes.com/, which sells these lenses a bit less expensive than other places. I paid around $40 for these, but they are 3 month lenses instead of yearlies.

color:

The color is lovely turquoise-green on me- just the result I was hoping to get. I was a bit worried because I have seen these look rather blue on people, but as I have yellowish undertones, these do look legitimately green on me.

What's more is that the color is vibrant and noticeable. My eyes still appear dark, but they are very clearly and obviously green, which is what I was hoping for.

design:

Well, the blending is superb, the iris design is lovely- comprised of fibrous-looking lines that fade towards the pupil, and it is pigmented enough to convey an obvious color change. The pupil hole might be a tad large for some, but I personally like the way green eyes look with a brown starburst, so I don't mind my natural iris showing around the pupil. I do find that the pupil hole is too round- I prefer a jagged pupil hole, like my Tiny Puffies have (comparison shots later). But the one thing that really does annoy me is the very solid, very black limbal ring. I took the liberty of editing a picture to fade the black limbal ring, and I personally like the result much better. Someone needs to create a lens like this.

comfort:

These lenses are not necessarily uncomfortable, but they do not hug my eyes like many of my circle lenses do. They slide if I blink while looking up. Especially on my left eye. Also, these feel a bit more suffocating than some of my other lenses if I wear them for more than 6 hours. They do not feel dry, so drops do not help. They just feel like my eyes cannot breathe. For whatever reason, circle lenses seem to be the most comfortable and best fitting lenses for me- even when the diameter, base curve, and material is exactly the same. Luckily, these lenses are far from intolerable.

comparisons:

As I am constantly on a mission for the perfect green lens, I thought I would compare my three favorite green lenses: Dueba Tiny Puffy Green, Bella Green Envy, and these Venus Leaf Greens.

conclusion:

Well these are two very different greens. The Bellas are a very natural-looking gray-green whereas the Venuses are a vibrant blue-green not typically found in natural irises. The Bellas look very natural, even upon close inspection (or "kissing distance") while the Venus's solid limbal ring and round pupil hole (and yes, the neon-ish color) give them away as lenses. The Venuses are not fake-looking in an obvious or obnoxious way; they really only appear fake to those who are looking for it. They surpass my Bellas in color, but not in naturalness.

conclusion:

Now here are two lenses that are nearly identical in color, and essentially serve the same purpose. The Venus may be a bluer-green, and the color is definitely more vibrant and noticeable. Unfortunately so is that black limbal ring. The Puffies have a much more natural and blended ring which I prefer. Also, the pupil hole on my Puffies is jagged, making the effect much less lens-like. I can't say I prefer one over the other. I definitely prefer the design of the Tiny puffy, but I adore the vibrancy and lightness of the Venus. Alas, if I could only combine the two...

The eye colors that I want:

Simple post today. I made this image on my computer illustrating all the eye colors that I really want.

The first one, "Turquoise Green," I pretty much already have in my Dueba Tiny Puffy Greens, although on me, the color is a bit darker than the illustration.

Also, the "Ocean Blue" is similar to my Bella Blue Rains, but the Bella color is definitely a lot darker.

Anyways, if you know of any lenses that would give me these eye colors, do let me know of them. Otherwise, enjoy:

Review: Dueba Tiny Puffy 2 Tone Green Lenses

Allow me to introduce you to my new favorite line of circle lenses: the Dueba Tiny Puffy series. This is the green color:

As usual, I purchased these from solution-lens.com, and as usual, I received friendly, prompt customer service, great prices, and beautifully, carefully packaged lenses, as well as an adorable little gift!

So... onto the review?

color:

Why yes, it is rather aqua/turquoise looking! This color happens to be my favorite of all my lenses, despite not being what I expected at all. Having seen such lovely pictures of people wearing the Dueba Puffy (shinny 3 tone) lenses in green, I expected their 2 tone counterparts to look the same, but without the starburst. Light-colored starbursts are designed to blend, but they only blend with light colored eyes. On me, it looks like my pupil is extending out into 3D, like a lizard or a fish.

So yeah, that's why I opted for the 2 tone version. The picture on solution-lens is a bit misleading. It shows a forest green lens, which is clearly just the same picture as the 3 tone Puffy, but with the yellow center photoshopped out:

On me, it looks even turquoisier (<=my patent pending word)

You can't say that's not a completely different shade of green. Oh well. In any case, I've really been wanting an aqua/turquoise lens, but there aren't a lot of good ones out there. Too many are crazy, unnatural designs. I like crazy colors, but not crazy designs. So, this ended up being the perfectest lens for me. I'm reeeeeeally tempted to give it a full 10/10 for color, but I cannot do that in good conscience, because it was misleading. Lovely as it is.

*edit:

screw it if it's deceptive- this color is wayyy prettier than anything I could have expected. It's not what it looked like on the website, so I'm giving it an 13/10.

design:

The Puffy design is always lovely. The pixellation is barely visible, it gives enough coverage to actually change my eye color, but blends well enough to look perfectly natural. I also love that there is no black on the colored part of the lens, as this mutes the color. I think if the lens was just a little bit more pigmented, the color would show up more vibrant while still looking natural. As it is, it's pretty subtle

comfort:

No problems to report, as is typically the case with Dueba lenses. I've worn them for more than 6 hours on several occasions. I just bring my eyedrops if its gonna be more than 6 hours.

enlargment:

This really isn't a very important factor for me. Dueba lenses seem have a larger gap between the edge of the lens circumference and the start of the pigmentation. So a 14.5mm lens might be huge in Geo, but its pretty much natural sized in Dueba. If you want to look like a barbie, you should move right along, this lens is probably not for you.

I couldn't be happier with these lenses! Everything from the color, the design, how it blends with my eyes. They look so much better than I expected! I am told I look very exotic with these. I will definitely be trying the other colors. Next on my list: violet, gray, then brown. Not sure how I feel about the pink ones.. Also, I need to find out if its possible to get the blue in this series.
