Review: Dueba Barbie Tony Brown

So I have done the review on the lovely Dueba Barbie Tony Grays. Now here is the review of their brown counterpart, which I am falling more and more in love with every day!
So I have been on a search for the perfect contact lenses: ones that look natural both up close and from a distance, with a color payoff that can be seen in natural and dim light as well as flash photography and sunlight.

Well I have to say, these are damn near perfect!

These lenses are kind of a golden honey-brown. They can look hazel-ish in some lighting as well. Off the eye, they are basically light orange. I love that these lenses have a nice warm look. I think this goes a lot better with my style than the gray tonies. The color isn't such a shocking change from brown eyes. This is a color you can wear anywhere.

As you may have read from my review on the Dueba Barbie Tony grays, the design on these lenses is brilliant!!!!! If I could own every color, I would. This design is perfect, because it is pigmented enough to show color on the darkest of eyes, but still sheer enough that your eyes look natural and translucent. It fades into the pupil so that it does not give the "fishy eye" look,  and the pixellation is so fine it can barely be seen by the naked eye. My one and only point of ever-so-slight (barely even acknowledgable) discontentment is that I sometimes wish it had more of/a darker limbal ring. But this is really the most beautiful, vibrant, natural design I have ever tried.

comfort:

Duebas are always comfortable for me. This series in particular seems to melt onto my eyeballs the second I put them in. I find myself having to check to make sure they are still in because I cannot feel them. Awesome :)

Review: Geo Tornado Sky "Blue" contact lenses

I had ordered these tornado lenses from Geo which are supposed to be made specifically for dark brown eyes. In fact, here is the description from solution-lens.com:

So, I ordered these thinking they would turn my eyes a lovely sapphire blue. Unfortunately, these were the results:
And this is with flash! You can barely tell it is blue. Under normal light, it actually looks a muddy, dark swamp green. Very, very, very icky. 

 They actually make my eyes look darker and less vibrant. I almost look possessed when I have these on.

 Well at first, I was so pissed that these lenses are actually advertised as being perfect for darker eyes. But then I took a closer look...

I am pretty sure they sent me the wrong lenses...


Well I don't think I am going to review these in earnest,  because these are lenses that I would have never purposely chosen for my eyes. Plus if I did review them, the scores would all be wayyyyy negative.

Update:

I contacted Solution-lens and they informed me that I did, in fact, receive the Geo CM-772 Tornado Sky Blue lenses that I ordered. They replied after just a few minutes, so I guess thats rather impressive. Anyways, here is my review on them:

 Color: -10/10 just... awful. It's like navy blue.

 Design: -10/10 worst possible for dark eyes

 Enlargement: -10/10 they make me look possessed...

 Comfort: 6/10 initially they feel kind of rough (like normal contacts when you're getting used to them) and I had no interest in keeping them on longer than that initial period.

 Overall: -10/10 truly the worst contacts I have ever owned.
Oh, and I guess I'm back to being angry about false advertising again. It's sad, because up until now, I have really really liked Solution-Lens. I don't want to be angry with them. Well maybe its not their fault. Maybe GEO is the one who supplied that information.
Come to think of it, of all the lenses I have, the GEO lenses have all been pretty disappointing color-wise. I have four lenses from GEO and none of them turned out the color I wanted over my dark eyes. 

 On the other hand, my three Dueba lenses show up brilliantly on my eyes. I have the Dueba Barbie Tonies in Gray (my absolute favorite) and Brown, and the Barbie Queen Aloha in violet. 

 I guess I have to order more Duebas. Maybe I will try some lenses from Vassen as well, but definitely no more GEO :(

Review: Dueba Barbie Tony Gray


I am going to be doing a review on the Dueba Barbie Tony lenses in the silver gray color.


Before I say anything else, these are my absolute favorite lenses I have ever owned...




There are two silvers in this series- “light silver” and “silver gray.” The “silver gray” is the darker of the two. In the lens case, it is nearly white!!





My natural eye color is a very dark brown, and I have been looking for a lens to make them look natural light blue. I prefer lenses that look natural, as opposed to the dramatic dolly eye look.

This was my second order from the site, and I highly recommend them! They are professional, helpful, fast (with regards to both shipping and responding to questions), and have a great selection of contact lenses.

As for the package, it was wrapped ever so carfully (and cutely) with lots of bubble wrap, cute little baskets to keep the vials safe, and stickers! Oh, such cute stickers (it’s the little things, yaknow?).


Oh, and they gave me a case (free) for each of the lenses I ordered.




Now, onto the lenses themselves:



As mentioned, these are the Dueba Barbie Tony lenses in the “silver gray” color.





These are the most amazingly perfect and beautiful and stunning lenses I have ever owned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, they actually show up on my dark brown eyes:





The color is a light steel blue. Under some light sources, it looks more gray/silver.


Second, they show up in any and all conditions: Flash photography, natural light, dim light, from a distance, and up close.





Now there are many contacts out there which can be seen on dark eyes, from a distance, and in dim lighting. What makes these so amazing is that the lenses manage to look completely natural regardless of how closely you look at them. The pixellation can only be seen in very high-definition photos taken with flash, and even then, you have to zoom in quite a lot.


Because the pigment fades into the pupil with a delicate feathering effect, the natural iris color simply looks like a natural starburst.


These lenses are also my first pair of lenses that required no time to adjust to them. I was able to pop them in and immediately continue about my day.


So, to sum up my opinion on these lenses:

Color: 10/10

Design: 100/10 (<= so phenomenal...)

Enlargment: N/A

Comfort: 10/10

Solution-Lens.com: 10/10

Overall: 10/10

Review: Geo Nudy Violet lenses

Today I will be reviewing the Geo Nudy lenses in Violet:







My natural eye color is a very dark brown, and I have been looking for a lens to make them look lavender-blue. I prefer lenses that look natural, as opposed to the dramatic dolly eye look. When I saw the Geo Nudy Violet lenses online, I thought they would be perfect. It has a pretty natural look to it, and the color a very soft pastel violet, not the bright purple so often seen in violet lenses.

The site is pretty easy to browse. You can search by color, brand, or you can select a series of lenses from a particular brand (i.e. Geo Super Nudy series). Their price is also very fair. I was excited when I unwrapped my lenses and took them out of their vials. They were just the lovely shade I was looking for! Unfortunately, when I put them on my dark brown eyes, the color faded into a grayish-brown that is only slightly lighter than my normal color.



From a distance, the speckled pattern gives the illusion of shimmering, clear eyes. Up-close however, the speckles do kind of look like cataracts...

These are one of the most comfortable lenses I have tried. I don't feel any rough edges when I put them in, and they don't feel drying, even when I wear them for more than six hours. The unexpected surprise was the enlargement factor- for a lens of only 14.2mm, it really does a nice job of enlarging my irises. I love that it does this without an unnatural looking thick black limbal ring.

I recommend for someone who wants to add a slight shimmer to their eye color and enlarge their irises, but I do NOT recommend this lens to someone who wants violet colored eyes.
