Review: Bella Blue Rain

This is the second lens I purchased from the Bella series. Why would I purchase a second color from this series when the first ones (green envy) were so disappointing? Well, because I am stupid, and much like with the Bella Green Envys, I saw a review for these blue ones and thought they looked so brilliant and blue and I had to have a pair, so I purchased them and hoped for the best. Like I said: stupid.

Anyways, this was one of those ever-so-rare Dueba Tiny Puffy moments where the lens turned out dark and nothing like I expected, but oh-so-much better! On me, these lenses are dark blue-violet! It's soooo pretty! I never would have expected them to take on this subtle, mysterious color- not from the stock-pics, not from the review, not from my experience with the Green Envy color from this line.

And this is why I can't seem to stop ordering these somewhat obscure lenses that are rarely seen and reviewed online. Most of the time, it ends in disappointment, but for that once-in-a-blue-moon amazing, totally unique color, all the searching and sifting through dull, crap-lenses is suddenly worth it.

the elusive violet tone- this is what they look like in most lighting
On my rating scale, a 10/10 means the lens is exactly the same color that I optimistically hoped for- what I have come to expect from the lens given the stock photos, what I have seen from reviews online, and my subconscious ideal of what a blue lens should look like. This lens is not a 10/10. It is nothing like what I expected from my research. The color is the absolute loveliest, subtle blue-violet that is way prettier than anything I ever could have concocted in my mind. It is better than a 10/10.

color: 12/10

design:

The pupil hole on this color is a little on the blunt side. Unlike my Green Envys, the brown sunburst on this lens does completely encapsulate the pupil. Up close (I might say "kissing distance"), you can very clearly see that this is a colored lens, but only if you are looking for it. The sunburst color is so dark and sheer that I do not feel too self-conscious that the lens looks fake. Still, I think Bella could have staggered and feathered the pupil outline a bit more. From a distance, they look completely natural. The limbal ring is perfect- it is dark and defining, but well blended and shadow-y.

design: 9/10

comfort:

When I first put them in, they felt loose- like the base curve was way wider (flatter) than my corneas. I could feel the sides scratching. The second time I put them in, I left them in for a while, closed my eyes several times, and that problem seems to have subsided. Not sure if they just molded to my eyeballs or what... In any case, they are comfortable. They do feel a bit suffocating after about 6 hrs, even with drops, but never unbearable.

comfort: 8/10

overall:

This is the newest lens to join my permanent collection- meaning I will continue to reorder these. While not a perfect lens, this is a color I would never have sought out on my own, and I am so glad I stupidly ordered these and made this accidental discovery. I think for now, I can cease the search for a blue lens. Eventually I think, I will want a really noticeable sapphire blue, but at the moment I am completely satisfied with this Bella Blue Rain color.

overall: 9.5/10

Comparison shots with different lighting:

These lenses were *extremely* difficult to capture on camera. In person, they are dark, but noticeably violet-blue. This color proved to be extremely elusive, so I apologize that it might be difficult to see any noticeable color in the following pictures.

My cellphone was able to capture the exact color of these lenses on me. Here are some crappy-quality pictures:

Compared to my Sparkling Venus Blue

The pattern of these lenses is very similar to my Sparkling Blue Venus lenses, so I took some comparison shots. The Sparkling Venus has a much bolder limbal ring, and more brown color around the starburst area. The color is very much gray with virtually no hint of blue. The Bella Blue Rain has more color, so it actually conveys a blue color, albeit a very dark gray-blue-violet color. Also, as the Bella lens appears darker in general, the brown starburst actually blends more with my natural eye color:

Review: Geo Sparkling Venus Blue

I am going to be doing a review on the Geo Sparkling Venus Blue lenses.

http://www.solution-lens.com/geo-sparkling-blue-a52-unique-black-rim-famous-korean-venus-eyes-3-tone-blue-circle-lenses.html

My natural eye color is a very dark brown, and I have been looking for a natural-looking lens to make them look light blue. I prefer lenses that look natural, as opposed to the dramatic dolly eye look.

I ordered these lenses from Solution-Lens.com.

http://www.solution-lens.com/

Solution-Lens always hosts a monthly lens giveaway, and you don't have to buy anything first! Just post this link to your site to enter:

I have only been wearing contact lenses for a few months. The first site I ordered from was an american contact lens store. I found one pair that I liked, but the other ones I ordered didn't even show up on my eyes. They  didn't have enough selection of lenses that would be vibrant enough to show color over dark eyes. They were also more expensive. So I thought I would try circle lenses, because I heard that the colors were more vibrant, and many are designed specifically for dark irises.

After I placed my order with Solution-Lens, it only took about 10 days (real days, not business days) for my package to arrive.

As for the package, it was wrapped ever so carfully (and cutely) with lots of bubble wrap, cute little baskets to keep the vials safe, and stickers! Oh, such cute stickers (it's the little things, yaknow?).

As for the lenses themselves:

As you can see, they do not look any shade of blue :'( Not even dark blue! Not even blue with flash photography!!

However I really like the way they look. They add a lot of depth to my eyes, and they look incredibly natural. In close-up pictures, they actually remind me of custom lenses. You know, the ones that people have to pay $1500+ for, are hand painted, and really thick and uncomfortable?

So even though the color isn't close to what I wanted, the design and the comfort make these one of my favorite pairs.

More Pictures!!!!!

I made a video review on Youtube as well:

Review: Geolica Lady contact lenses in green, purchased from Solution-Lens.com

I am going to be reviewing Geolica Lady color contact lenses in green. These lenses were purchased from Solution-Lens.com.

Long have I been searching for the perfect colored contact lens that covers my dark brown eyes. The main features I am seeking are vibrant color and natural look. I have tried a couple of different sites in the past, but I have to say my experience with Solution-Lens was by far the best.

Solution Lens 10/10

One of the reasons I chose Solution-Lens.com is because their website posts pictures of actual customers wearing the lenses advertised. I found this very helpful as most sites just feature a picture of a person with colored lenses photoshopped (badly) onto their light blue eyes.

I highly recommend this site; it was easy to navigate and the entire transaction was very quick and professional. Most of the lenses on this site (including the Geolica Lady) are only $20 (per pair, and including shipping!), and you get the third pair free. This is the most economical deal I have found online for circle lenses.

I ordered two pairs of lenses and received a third pair for free. Solution-Lens was also kind enough to send me a cute pink pen and a case for each pair of lenses.

My package arrived in just 10 days- less than the expected two weeks.

The vials were very carefully wrapped and arrived in perfect condition.

The Geolica Lady series is a new line from Geo and it is specifically designed for people with darker irises (like mine!). The colors are vibrant, and these lenses do not have a thick black limbal ring as many other circle lenses do.

Color 8/10

The color shows up well in most light, but it shows up as a very dark green, so it is not supremely obvious. I was really hoping for something a bit lighter. It shows a vibrant yellow green in flash photography and a dark forest green in natural/ indoor light. This is a true true green, which is not typically found in natural eye colors. I was really hoping it would be more of a jade green. Overall, I would rate the color 8/10.

Design  7/10

The design is unique and incorporates three different colors: Green, black, and a yellowish inner starburst. The starburst makes the color pop, however I feel that the pupil hole is a bit too big, and the starburst a bit too bright, so the color does not blend seamlessly with the natural eye color. This is a shame because the contacts would look fairly natural up close if not for the wide, bright starburst. The green and black pigments form a geological looking pattern around the outside of the pupil, with empty spaces through which the natural eye color shows. I would rate the design 7/10

Enlargement 8/10

According to the label on the vial for these contacts, the diameter is supposed to be 14.2, however I feel that these look a bit bigger. They do seem to have a nice enlarging effect my eyes, even without the black ring. Enlargement was not one of the features I sought when purchasing these lenses, but nonetheless, I rate the enlarging effect 8/10

Comfort 7/10

These lenses were fairly comfortable once I got used to wearing them. I am fairly new to contact lenses, and it takes me about ten minutes to adjust to having these in my eyes. Most lenses take about 5 minutes for me to adjust to. That being said, once in I was able to wear them comfortably for a good 6 hours, no drops needed. I would rate the comfort 7/10.

Overall Satisfaction 7/10

On the whole, I have been very pleased with these lenses. I get lots of compliments, and I am told that green eyes suit me. My overall rating of these Geolica Lady green lenses is 7/10.

Just to RECAP:

Color: a little too dark and too green- 8/10
Design: nice, but pupil hole is too obvious- 7/10
Enlargement: not important to me, but- 8/10
Comfort: takes some getting used to- 7/10
Overall: not perfect, but they still look pretty- 7/10
Dealing with Solution-Lens: a perfect 10/10
